Alex completed his PhD in numerical analysis at the University of Bath, where he developed structure-preserving finite element methods for applications including battery electrolytes, radiotherapy planning, and non-Newtonian viscoelastic fluids.
His work focuses on the design of bespoke numerical methods – spanning both classical techniques and hybrid approaches incorporating machine learning – to enable efficient, robust simulation across a wide range of applications. His broader interests include mathematical modelling, interdisciplinary collaboration, and knowledge exchange.
